OMMEC are serious about the environment so we have taken on board 3 UN Sustainable Development Goals.
They form a blueprint for a better and more sustainable future for all. They address the global challenges we face, including poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace and justice. Larger corporations have to take responsibility for people, purpose and planet, and taking responsibility for some of the UN’s 17 sustainable goals is a good way to speak their language and become attractive to large corporations.
We have taken on 3 goals
GOAL 1 – No Poverty
Action: Pete has spent many years giving his precious time serving the homeless at one of Bristol’s most famous charities – The Wild Goose Cafe. Sadly, during the multiple lockdowns this has been more difficult but one that he wishes to communicate. At the heart of everything, a successful business affords him more of the time and resources he wishes to make an impact with. Once everything opens back up we will be back serving coffee and food to the homeless.
GOAL 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production
Action: Pete works with partners who use vegetable based ink with all their standard CMYK printing. Vegetable-based inks are less harmful to the environment than their petroleum-based counterparts. Others are using solar heating and other green energy initiatives. Pete has an extensive list of partners doing the print the right way.
GOAL 15 – Life on Land
Action: Pete buys from sustainable sources while using partners whose paper comes from FSC (Forest Stewarding Council) forests. Pete promotes FSC stock and material from mills that are FSC registered. These directly affect the world in which we live and one common objection to using print is cutting down trees.
OMMEC take on this responsibility by planting trees and working with Offset Earth, communicating a clear response to people’s reservations about direct mail and the environment.
Planting a Tree
To save guard our environment we pledge to plant one tree for each mailing campaign we produce
JUST ONE Tree is a non-profit organisation supporting reforestation projects around the world.
They combat climate change through planting trees and in the process they help provide training,
agricultural education and sustainable incomes in poverty stricken areas.
Simultaneously improving livelihoods whilst tackling our climate crisis.
Their first year has been an incredible journey. From just one person’s spark of an idea, sprinkled liberally with passion and drive,
JUST ONE Tree has seen over 750,000 trees planted across 4 continents.
But it’s not just about each tree that grows. It’s about:
- Restoring our planet through reforestation,
- Increasing biodiversity both on land and in the oceans,
- Improving lives in the communities where we plant,
- Raising environmental awareness in the classroom,
- Tackling climate change.
